PhD PROJECT

“Impact of Abiotic stresses on tomato plant growth and fruit quality “

Improvement of fruit quality and productivity can be achieved by cultural practices or breeding strategies. Environmental factors, particularly drought salinity and high temperatures usually lead important modification on plants at physiological and molecular level that impact fruit quality component and plant development.

The QUALITOM team with private seed companies initiated a research program aiming to identify QTL involved in plant growth and fruit quality under environmental constraint conditions. Within this framework, a multi-parent advanced generation intercross (MAGIC) population derived from a cross of eight parental lines was developed at INRA center of Avignon and characterized in drought, saline and heat condition in different sites. My PhD project will focus on this plant material with the goal to identify for the whole dataset collected, the level of genotype x environment interactions and the effect of drought, salinity and heat stress at molecular level.
