International ISHS symposium on apricot and plum genetics, breeding and culture

This symposium incorporates two symposia under the aegis of ISHS Division Temperate Tree Fruits and ISHS Working Groups "Apricot Breeding and Culture" and "Plum":

  • XVIII International Symposium on Apricot Breeding and Culture ;
  • XIII International Symposium on Plum and Prune Genetics, Breeding and Pomology.

This symposium on the genetics, breeding and cultivation of apricot and plum is dedicated to the entire scientific research and development community and the private sector working on these two Prunus. This joint edition follows on the 17th edition for the apricot tree and 12th edition for the plum tree with the specific ambitious objective to increase the value of the event by enhancing interconnections between the 2 communities.

A 3-day program covers all science fronts, divided into 6 sessions:

  1. Diversity, Genetics and Genomics
  2. Biology and Climate risk assessment
  3. Pest and disease control
  4. Post-harvest and Fruit quality including processing
  5. Breeding and evaluation
  6. Cultivation system and cultural practices

Avignon is one of the most beautiful cities of France nested in the heart of Provence. Probably most noted for its famous bridge and the Palais des Papes, the biggest Gothic palace in Europe, it is also a very vibrant city with great views over the River Rhone and the surrounding countryside.

It is also at the heart of stone fruit production in South-East France.

We aspire to offer a high quality scientific program combined with an attractive cultural and social program and an optional post-symposium day tour anchored to the impact of the research activities onto the practitioners.
