Ethylene plays a dual role in sex determination and fruit shape in cucurbits

Séminar by Catherine Dogimont, Head of GAFL Research Unit - Friday 18th of November @ 11 am

This seminar aims to show the state of knowledge on sex determination in cucurbits. It will show the strong association between fruit shape and sex types, highlighting the use of melon genetic resources to understand the mechanisms of flower and fruit development. It will show the dual role of ethylene in inhibiting stamen development and ovary and fruit elongation in cucurbits. The seminar will also illustrate the result of a long-standing collaboration between the Institut of Plant Science Paris-Saclay (IPS2) and GAFL.
